Welcome to the third installment of our ongoing series exposing the web of lies, financial fraud, and non-payment tactics of Todd and Julie Chrisley. This time, the spotlight is on Julie Chrisley’s misrepresentation of “The Hughes Family Trust”—a trust named after her maiden name—and her blatant refusal to pay for work completed under contract.
A Pattern of Fraud: Julie Chrisley and The Hughes Family Trust
Julie Chrisley entered into a fixed-fee contract with Capitella Homes, Ltd. for a construction project at 4544 Whitestone Way, Suwanee, GA. The project was contracted under “The Hughes Family Trust,” a trust bearing Julie’s maiden name, creating a legal smokescreen for avoiding personal liability.
When it came time to pay, Julie refused, claiming that she wasn’t personally responsible, despite signing and initialing each page of the contract. However, the arbitrator saw through this scheme and ruled that Julie was the true party to the contract, making her personally liable for payment.
Judgment Against Julie Chrisley: Another Unpaid Debt
Capitella Homes took legal action, leading to an arbitration hearing on December 19, 2015. The arbitrator ruled against Julie Chrisley, ordering her to pay:
- $59,141 for work performed
- $6,740.45 in pre-award interest
- $11,225 in attorney fees
- $3,875 in arbitration fees
The total judgment? $79,756.45—with interest accruing at $12.96 per day until paid.
Unsurprisingly, Julie never paid a dime. Capitella Homes was forced to file a motion to confirm the arbitration award in Georgia’s Fulton County Superior Court, further cementing the Chrisleys’ reputation for hiring contractors and refusing to pay.
A History of Not Paying Their Bills
This case is not an isolated incident. Julie and Todd Chrisley have a long and well-documented history of stiffing workers, vendors, and contractors. From lawsuits over unpaid mortgages to accusations of bank fraud, the Chrisleys have made a habit of living lavishly while leaving others to foot the bill.
This latest scandal proves yet again that their empire was built on fraud, deception, and unpaid debts—a reality far removed from the polished image they presented on TV.
Stay Tuned for More Exposés
As this series continues, we will uncover even more cases where the Chrisleys took advantage of others through lies and financial fraud. Stay tuned for our next installment as we continue to expose the truth behind this reality TV facade.
