Chrisley’s Unpaid Debts – Pt. 1 – Lawyers who never got paid!

This is the first installment of a detailed list of the people that the Chrisley’s never paid…. Part 1. The attorneys that never got paid for the work they did… Probably the wrong group to piss off.

Todd Chrisley, the flamboyant patriarch of Chrisley Knows Best, has long portrayed himself as a self-made millionaire with an extravagant lifestyle. However, behind the glitz and glamor of reality TV, a darker narrative unfolds—one filled with financial troubles, unpaid debts, and legal entanglements. While his 2022 conviction for bank fraud and tax evasion ultimately landed him in federal prison, his pattern of dodging financial obligations started long before the government caught up with him.

Among those who have pursued him in court for unpaid bills are attorneys Drew Findling and the law firm Fink & Steinberg—two legal teams that once represented Todd and Julie Chrisley but later had to sue them for non-payment. These lawsuits shed light on a troubling pattern of Chrisley hiring top-tier lawyers and then allegedly refusing to pay for their services.

The Lawsuit from Fink & Steinberg

In 2014, the law firm Fink & Steinberg filed a lawsuit against Todd Chrisley and his wife, Julie Chrisley, for failing to pay their legal fees. According to Radar Online, the couple had enlisted the firm’s services but failed to follow through on their financial obligations, leading the attorneys to take them to court.

They were owed money for the work they did for Todd and Julie Chrisley on the house they rented using forged documents and never paid the rent.

The lawsuit detailed that Todd and Julie racked up a significant bill with Fink & Steinberg but continuously dodged their responsibility to pay. While the exact amount owed was not publicly disclosed, it was north of $45,000 and it was substantial enough for the firm to escalate the matter to litigation.

Todd Chrisley, known for his sharp tongue and often arrogant attitude, did not publicly acknowledge this lawsuit. However, it was just one of many instances in which he was accused of evading payment for services rendered.

Drew Findling’s Case Against Todd Chrisley

A year later, another lawyer followed the same path—this time, a high-profile criminal defense attorney named Drew Findling. Findling, a well-respected attorney with a client list that includes celebrities and high-profile figures, represented the Chrisleys in legal matters. However, he later found himself chasing them down for unpaid legal fees.

In November 2015, Findling filed a lawsuit against Todd and Julie Chrisley, claiming that they had refused to pay him nearly $50,000 for his legal services. Findling, who operates out of Atlanta, took on the case expecting to be compensated, but like many before him, he found that getting paid by Todd Chrisley was a challenge.

According to the lawsuit, Findling provided legal services to the Chrisleys, but when it came time to settle the bill, the couple stalled. The legal action stated that Findling repeatedly attempted to collect the debt, only to be met with silence or excuses.

Findling’s legal complaint emphasized that he had done the work in good faith, yet Todd and Julie refused to honor their financial obligation. The lawsuit was a clear indication that the Chrisleys had a pattern of hiring expensive attorneys and then attempting to avoid payment.

Ironically Drew Findling just agreed to defend Chase Chrisley… Maybe he is getting paid up front.

A Pattern of Financial Deception

These lawsuits paint a picture of Todd Chrisley as a man who lived far beyond his means, creating an illusion of wealth while consistently failing to pay his debts. His financial troubles didn’t stop at lawyers—his bankruptcy filings, accusations of bank fraud, and tax evasion convictions further solidify his reputation as someone who manipulated money and avoided accountability.

Even before these lawsuits, Todd Chrisley’s financial history was riddled with red flags. In 2012, he filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, claiming he had $49.4 million in debt and only $4.2 million in assets. Despite his claims of financial recovery, his pattern of avoiding payments continued well into the years of his reality TV fame.

The lawsuits from Drew Findling and Fink & Steinberg add to a long list of financial misdeeds that eventually culminated in his 2022 conviction for fraud and tax evasion. In that case, prosecutors successfully argued that the Chrisleys engaged in a years-long scheme to defraud banks and the federal government, leading to their sentencing—Todd received 12 years in prison, and Julie received 7 years.

Final Thoughts

Todd Chrisley’s legal troubles with unpaid attorneys are just one facet of his larger history of financial deception. His flashy lifestyle, portrayed on Chrisley Knows Best, was largely built on smoke and mirrors, propped up by fraud, loans he never intended to repay, and a refusal to pay those who worked for him.

For Drew Findling and Fink & Steinberg, their lawsuits against Todd and Julie Chrisley were not about greed but about principle—these attorneys provided services, and like many others in Todd Chrisley’s orbit, they were left empty-handed.

While Todd and Julie Chrisley now sit behind bars for their larger financial crimes, their history of dodging payments and legal troubles serves as a cautionary tale: No matter how much wealth someone projects, financial deception always catches up in the end.
